Mauricio R. Chavez, M.D.

Dr. Chavez has joined The Rocky Mountain Eye Center as of September 2009.

Dr. Chavez earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois in 2003. He completed his Ophthalmology residency at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in 2007.

Dr. Chavez also completed an American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery sponsored two-year fellowship in Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Oregon Health & Science University - Casey Eye Institute in Portland, Oregon in 2009.

Dr. Chavez is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. In addition, he has written book chapters and reports in the field of Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and dogs, traveling, playing tennis, and practicing his golf swing.

Dr. Chavez is seeing patients at the Montebello office in Pueblo and our office in Alamosa.

Services
Dr. Chavez specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of the eyelid, tear duct, & orbital disease and cosmetic surgery of the eyelids and the surrounding facial tissue. Surgical procedures include ptosis repair, ectropion repair, entropion repair, eyelid tumor biopsies & reconstruction, tearing & lacrimal system surgery, enucleation, thyroid eyelid and orbital surgery, blepharoplasty, midface lift, and endoscopic brow lift. In addition, nonsurgical cosmetic procedures for facial wrinkles and folds including Botox® and facial fillers including Restylane® injections.
